Living Without Fear

Many wonder what it would be like to have no fear. Always know the unexpected and always waiting for the next risk to take.
Well, in a series of books called Fearless, by Francine Pascal, the main character Gaia (pronounced Guy-ah) knows exactly what it’s like. She was born without the “fear gene.”
As a result she is always looking for a dare, getting herself into trouble, but she is not afraid. Especially not after all the combat training her father, who is in the CIA thought her, as a young girl.
She lives by a code of “never do more harm than necessary...” and her mission in life is to “... draw out violent behavior and squash it.” “Not to produce more violence.” She is glad her father taught her so many skill, but she hates him for disappearing.
She is not a heroine out to stop crime. She is just your typical teenager that is mad at the world and wants to be different from everyone else. She dislikes school because it is too easy and purposely enjoys failing exams.
Throughout the book, a girl named Heather becomes her enemy. Heather is stubborn girl. She will not set their differences aside. She even refuses to listen to Gaia’s attempt to warn her of the dangers in Central Park. As a result Heather is attacked and put into a coma.
Gaia has to deal with most of the blame of this incident and many others as well. As she goes through her adventures, she also tries to deal with a secret she finds humiliating, she’s never been kissed (and she’s seventeen!)
The book has great story plot. Since it takes place in the present, it is easier for the reader to associate with Gaia, a modern teenager who is afraid to experinece love, but wants to. You will literally not put the book down, as it builds up suspense to know... What’s Gaia’s next move?
If you like books that have action, yet relate to the average teenager, this is the book for you. You can find a copy of the book in a library or in any bookstore.
The book will definitely have readers rushing out to book stores to buy the follow up on Gaia, the girl with no fear. |

Adam Sandler stars in this film as Little Nicky, who is from hell and his father is the devil. He is a shy and strange guy who likes heavy metal music. He has two brothers that are bullies and are always picking on Little Nicky.
When Little Nicky’s father, The Devil decides not to make his brothers the heir to his evil throne they get upset and go to New York and decide to create a Hell on Earth. Little Nicky (Sandler) must stop his brothers from disrupting the natural order of things or else Satan (Little Nicky’s Dad) will lose his powers and slowly begin to die.
At this point his father does not have any options left, therefore he orders his son to leave hell, his home. Little Nicky must go in to the wild streets of New York in search of his brothers so he could stop them. Little Nicky becomes nervous because he has never been to New York. Since it is his first time in there, everything is different and weird for him.
He finds a talking dog who becomes his friend and helps him out. The dog guides Little Nicky throughout the city and helps him use his powers. The dog also helps Little Nicky to find his brothers, from there he must use his powers to stop them and restore the balance between Good and Evil.
In the process of trying to save the world Little Nicky falls in love with a girl in New York. At first she is scared when she finds out Little Nicky has powers and comes from hell, but she learns to accept him and falls in love with him too.
Starring in Little Nicky is Adam Sandler, Harvey Keitel, Allen Covert, Jonathan Loughran, and Peter Dante. The director is Steven Brill.
This movie is a well-directed and humorous film with a talented cast. We give it three thumbs up, four out of five stars and a grade of B. For all you teenagers Little Nicky earns a PG-13 rating.
Little Nicky is expected to be a fun movie to watch. Expect to be laughing throughout the whole movie.

Curious to know what’s what in the music business? Here is the week’s top 5. 1. Limp Bizkit
“Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water”
Some of the material is similar to their previous album, “Significant Other,” but otherwise this is a new sound for them and the record is full of good, new material.
2. Nelly
“Country Grammar”
As a new artist, he has certainly found success with his new record. You can hear a little inspiration from hip-hop artists like Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg.
3. EMINEM
“ The Marshall Mathers LP”
Well, almost everyone has just about heard one or more songs from it. Murder, drinking, adultery, abuse, and drugs seem to be what the album is about. What more could you want.
4. Madonna
“Music”
It is hard to see or tell how she will reinvent herself next time, if there is a next time. Her new album is a completion of digital music.
5. Green Day
“Warning”
Green Day has really outdone themselves with their new album. Some songs sound the same from before, but they have some new sounds also.
